NOODLES - Week 02
Week 2 passed rather quickly and I haven't got as much done as I would like. I'm having trouble balancing my internship, family commitment & finding time to work on my OLP project. I started to feel overwhelmed by the amount of info I need to take in... What I've done:
Got a 3rd draft of the script for the Voice Over
Contacted voice actor & actress who will be the voice of my two characters
Got the Developer Options setup on the phone
Got Developer Mode ready on the Gear VR Service app
What I've been doing:
Learning C# with Udemy - VR Course https://www.udemy.com/vrcourse
Somebody recommended VRTK https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/64131 (Thank you so much! It will probably save my life), so I’ve been playing around and see what I can use in my project
In contact with a person from Autodesk to help me with the vertex color problem when importing FBX files exported from Quill into Maya (I'm not sure if it will help with getting the shader to work in Unity, so that's another issue...)
** I did some tests with Joe Daniels' Vertex Color shader and Nick Ladd's shader solution in Maya:
Joe Daniels' post https://gumroad.com/l/ubershader
Nick Ladd's post https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/53288/how-to-open-quill-fbx-exports-in-maya#latest
Problem is the shader only works with Hardware 2.0 renderer and cannot be exported out of Maya. It looks nice in the viewport though

What I still need to do:
Build a simple scene to test the interactive mechanics
Do more test on the workflow between Quill & Unity (and everything in between)
Find a Unity expert to get help
Probably have to order a PC
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!
